The 3 Biggest Mistakes I See New Hand-Balancers MakeAug 15, 2023
When people decide to start training handstands, they get SO excited! But many sabotage their success by doing one (or all) of these three things:
1) They only focus on practicing handstands and forget that strength training and flexibility training is just as important as practicing the actual skill.
2) They don't record themselves during their handstand practice. What we think we are doing and what we are actually doing are often quite different when we start our handstand journey so recording yourself can be so valuable!!
3) They rely on the wall exclusively. In order to improve your handstands, you gotta practice away from the wall! In order to get away from the wall, you need to learn how to exit a handstand safely through cartwheeling out. You might need a coach or spotter to learn this skill but I find that my clients learn this skill very quickly.
